Description:

Measuring 40 1/2 inches in overall length, with a 34 1/2 inch single fuller straight blade, serialized "100186" on the spine, a gilt brass "PROVED/P" stamp in the right ricasso, and the makers mark of Septimus John Pillin on the left. Deep etched panels are present on each side, with scroll designs and English martial patterns, and an etched "C(arrow)D" is present at the tip of the spine. 2-branch guard with engraved borders, half-checkered back strap and a wire wrapped leather grip. With a polished steel sheath, fitted with a German silver throat.

Rating Definition:

Very good, showing some areas of dark patina on the blade, particularly the ricasso, with light handling marks and spotting overall. The makers mark is faded, with the ricasso having been cleaned. A small amount of pitting is present on the hilt, with minimal wear on the leather. About good sheath, with the tip having been mended and reinforced following a break, reshaped drag, screws absent from the throat and scattered spotting and polishing marks.
