Rare European Awarded Army of India Medal

This is a rare example of an Army of India Meal (1803-26) that was awarded to an European, Thomas Phillips. The medal has an Ava clasp and a pale blue ribbon. It is estimated that 2,325 of these medals with the Ava clasp were awarded to Europeans. The Army of India Medal was the last of the medals authorized in connection with the Napoleonic Wars. The medal was issued by the Honorable East India Company in March 1851 for award to surviving veterans of the battles and campaigns in India and Burma between 1803 and 1826.

ConditionFine with some minor handling marks and the top ends of the ribbon glued together. The silver has an attractive aged patina.
