Description:

This is a very rare example of a desirable "Jager" semi-automatic pistol as produced in the 1914-1917 time frame. The unique aspect of this pistol is that the sides of the frame are actually an early form of sheet metal stamping that the rest of the parts were assembled to. The trigger guard/underside of the frame hinges at the lower front and swings downward to exposed the internal components, with some of the remaining parts being stampings combined with standard machined parts. It was estimated that approximately 12,000 were manufactured at Jager and Company, with only a handful actually being accepted by the Imperial German Army at this time. With the Imperial marked Jagers, interspersed with commercial Jagers in the 5,167 to 9,268 serial range. This example is stamped with commercial "Crown/N" proofs on the right side of the frame, upper slide and barrel cross-pin. With the left side of frame marked "JAGER-PISTOLE. D.R.P. ANGEM. This example has checkered, black plastic grips and is complete with a small unmarked brown leather holster with a side magazine pouch that contains on spare unmarked blued original magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the original pre-war rust blued finish, with edge and high spot wear overall with blue loss on the grip straps and upper rear end of the frame. There is some very minor spots of pitting on top of the left rear edge of the slide probably from sitting in a holster. The grips are in good condition with nice checkering on both sides with several minor chips or mold marks on the left side grip. The holster is in very good plus condition with nice medium brown color overall with tight stitching. A very nice example of an early "Jager" commercial semi-automatic pistol.
