Indian Army Sind Field Artillery Officer's Parade Helmet

This is a rare Indian Officer's helmet circa 1883. This gilded metal helmet has a gilded helmet plate comprised of a lion's head surrounded by a wreath of silver laurel leaves. On the front peak is a silver flaming cannon. On the top is a silver ball in a gilded holder and base. A gilded chin chain is suspended from lion's head rosettes. As per army regulations, this helmet contains no liner to make room for the wearer's traditional head wrap. Gold bullion cord and scarf wrap the body of the helmet.

ConditionVery good, the helmet has an overall bright appearance with a few minor dings and a couple hairline cracks. There are traces of silver remaining in the protected areas on the cannon, laurels and ball. A few of the rivets appear to be replacements.
