This is a scarce example of a seldom found, very late production, five-digit serial number, "P" code, commercial contract Luger with ultra rare Krieghoff installed, "6 inch" length barrel in the original 7.65 mm Luger caliber with the very desirable Krieghoff "Side Frame Inscription" markings. This type of commercial pistol is described on page 196 and 197 of Gibson's excellent book on Krieghoff lugers. It is estimated that only "10" total were actually produced with only 2-3 ever know or identified, making this an extremely rare commercial example. This specific pistol has the correct blank chamber area with five pointed star on the right side of the barrel extension, indicating that it was rejected for military acceptance. With the early Commercial "Crown/N" firing proofs on the left side of the frame, barrel extension and underside of the barrel and top of the breechblock. The front toggle has the C-2 die markings with the "I" in Krieghoff centered over the "S" in Suhl with the slightly angled/offset bottom on the letter "U". The rare side frame markings are in three lines: "Heinrich Krieghoff/Waffenfabrik/Suhl". The pistol is correctly numbered in the commercial fashion with the complete serial number (29,797) on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension. The back side of the side plate has the last two digits of the serial number along with a Krieghoff proof. This pistol has the high polish Krieghoff blue finish with the straw colored smaller parts. It is fitted with a set of the unmarked late production brown plastic grips with the coarse checkering. The pistol is complete with one early unmarked, nickel plated magazine with an aluminum base that is numbered "29,797" on the bottom.
