This Deluxe Model 71 sporting rifle was manufactured in 1956 and was designed as the replacement for the Model 1886 rifle. It is similar in appearance to the 1886 with some internal parts strengthened to handle the powerful 348 cartridge. This rifle features a hooded ramp front sight, the rear sight dovetail has a filler and the receiver is equipped with a Lyman peep sight. Standard barrel markings with the Winchester oval proof on top of the receiver and barrel at the breech. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. 3/4 magazine and mounted on straight grain checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a steel end cap, hard rubber Winchester grip cap, checkered steel buttplate and sling swivel bases.
