The bottom of the barrels are marked on both "2471", "LF", "LP", "10.8", with the one being "4" dn the other "5". The wood is stamped "JNI" and the casehardened breechblock is number "2471" to correspond to the barrel (writer believes these to be of French origin). A floral scroll engraved pattern is present on the barrel plug, barrel tang, lock plate, hammer, butt cap, and spur trigger guard. The screw heads are floral blossom engraved. Blue barrel with remaining metal surfaces casehardened. The half stock has a relief floral scroll carving on the underside of the forearm and the grip area has fine checkering. The single barrel wedge is floral blossom engraved. The pair of pistols are housed in a wooden case lined with royal purple velvet and has several compartments with two having lids with wooden knobs. The accessories accompanying the pistols are the following: brass tipped wooden ramrod, wooden cleaning rod with brass attachment, single cavity conical iron bullet mold, two wooden round boxes, nicely figured wooden mallet, oiler, powder measure, iron powder scoop, two nicely figured wooden handle tools (screwdriver, percussion nipple wrench) and E. Gauplillat of Paris percussion cap paper tin with caps.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 90% bright original high polish blue finish showing some mild thinning. The remaining metal surfaces have faded to an attractive gray patina with traces of original case colors. The stock is also excellent with a few minor handling marks. The checkering is crisp. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with a cracked bottom, minor handling marks and worn lining. The accessories are very fine.
