Measuring 16 1/8 inches wide, 6 3/4 inches deep and 2 1/2 inches tall with large inset brass shield and brass corner protectors on the lid and wine colored velvet lining with five compartments. In the case is a Colt powder flask, (9 inches tall including the charger) with sloping charger and thumb lever cut-off. Suspension rings on each side near the top. Each side has a stand of flags, cannon, crossed rifles and pistols, with "COLTS PATENT" in a banner at the bottom, unmarked brass two cavity bullet, mold with iron sprue, unopened original Eley Bros. cap tin and empty envelope cartridge container.

The case is very fine with a few minor dings and scratches on the exterior and an aged patina on the brass. The lining is very good with some minor fraying on the edges, heavy contact wear from the cylinder and some minor soiling. All accessories are fine with an aged patina on the flask and mold, the protective paper on the cap tin has dark spots and the cartridge box is very good.
