Description:

Manufactured in 1853, this is an excellent original example of a Colt Model 1849 Revolver. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two line New York address inside brackets and the left side of the frame is stamped "COLTS/PATENT". The left side of the trigger guard has the letters "W" and "X". The cylinder has the stagecoach hold up scene. A small letter "B" is stamped on the left side of the barrel lug and on the cylinder. Matching full serial number on barrel, cylinder, frame, trigger guard and back strap with the partial serial number on the loading lever and barrel wedge. Fitted with a varnished one piece grip.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel and cylinder retains 95% original early deep blue Colt finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer, loading lever and frame retain also retain 90% correct soft original case colors. The grip straps retain 97% original silver plating. The grip is also excellent with a few scattered minor handling marks and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically functions fine, but is slightly out of time.
