Marked with the two line Colt Hartford address on top of the barrel, an etched panel reading "COLT NEW 38" on the left side, and "PAT. SEPT. 15. 1874/11010" on the underside. 5-round cylinder with long cylinder flutes and manufactured without a loading gate. Nickel finish with blue cylinder pin, checkered hammer and spur trigger. Frame is stamped "38 CAL C". The grips are smooth birds head ivory.

Fine, with 65% of the original nickel finish remaining with flaking on the cylinder and along exposed edges and some overall handling marks. The grips are fine showing a chip on the left grip, otherwise with a few scratches and a pleasant mellow aged patina. The markings are clear and crisp. The faint etched panel is still visible. The action is fine.

Manufactured in 1876 without a loading gate. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line Colt Hartford address, "COLT NEW 41" in an etched panel on the left side of the barrel and "41 CAL" marked on the left side of the frame. Blue barrel, cylinder and cylinder pin with a nickel finished frame. The barrel is marked with two Birmingham proofs that also alternate in the cylinder flutes and a single Birmingham proof marked on the right side of the frame. Matching serial numbers.

Fine. 50% thinning original blue finish remains on the barrel for balance is an even brown patina showing pitting at the muzzle. The frame is now a dark mottled silver/gray patina. The grips are fine with some deep scratches. Acid etched panel is faint, otherwise the markings are clear.
