Description:

This is a very good representative example of a G41rifle as produced by the Berlin-Lubecker company. These rifles were produced early on in the production cycle of the G41/G43 series of semi-automatic rifles before all production switched to the G43 series of rifles. These early G41 series of rifles used the "Bang Gas-Trap" system which employed a barrel mounted "Gas Trap" muzzle cone on the end of the barrel to trap hot gas that was bleed off when the round was fired and cycled the action. This entire series of rifles was manufactured for only a couple of years as they switched to the G/K43 series rifles that were far more reliable and easier to manufacture. These early rifles use mostly machined and finely blued parts combined with stamped sheet metal parts and components, such as the barrel bands, trigger guard and magazine, versus the later all rough cast and poorly machined G/K43 series of rifles. The left side of the receiver is marked with the large "G41 duv 43, Eagle / 214" followed by the serial number "6582". The stock is the correct wartime laminated model that is marked on the right side with a double "Eagle 214" Waffenamt proof and a single "Eagle 214" Waffenamt proof in the pistol grip area. The rifle is equipped with the brown phenolic resin (plastic) handguard as manufactured in 1941/42. This rifle is complete with a unmarked smooth brown leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished/renumbered (stock) with 90% of the wartime blued finish overall, mixed with some artificial browning on the edges of bolt cover and barrel jacket. The renumbered to match stock is very good with visible proofs, having been cleaned. The handguard is also very good with a nice color overall with some heavier scratches on top in front of the rear barrel band. Mechanically excellent. The sling is also good.
