This is another exceptionally nice example of a very a scarce mid-WWII Commercial contract Mauser Banner Luger pistol chambered in 9 mm Luger. These Lugers were manufactured right up to the end of production just like the Commercial K98 rifles and generally fall into the range of those considered as a standard commercial Luger that were neither intended for sales outside Germany or Europe, or as a military or police contract. There were approximately 700 produced in this "w" serial number block. They exhibit nice workmanship with a high quality blue finish with the straw colored small parts. The top of the chamber is stamped "42" for 1942, the last year the Luger pistol was produced by the Mauser factory, with the Mauser Banner trademark stamped on the front toggle. The left side of the barrel extension, the underside of the barrel and the left side of the breechblock are all stamped with a single Nazi "Eagle/N" commercial proof acceptance mark with no other proofs on the pistol. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number (7926w) stamped on the front of the frame, and not on the barrel with serial number (7926) stamped left side of the barrel extension. The last two digits of the serial number (26) is stamped on various small parts. It is complete with two WWII all blue Type Three magazines with pinned aluminum bases, each stamped with "7926". It has a beautiful late production Police holster that is marked on the backside, "A. FISCHER/BERLIN.C/1942/Nazi Eagle Proof".
