There were approximately 26,000 manufactured and they were the standard issue British sniper rifle. This style of rifle was developed in the late 1930s. These rifles were used through Korea and into the early 1960s when it was replaced by the L42 model. The left side of the butt socket is marked "M47 C/1944/N31689/TR". Blade front sight with ear protectors and an elevation adjustable folding rear sight. Mounted on a semi-straight grip walnut stock marked "S51" on the bottom with proofmarks on the bottom of the wrist and the serial number by the forend. There is a removable screw-on birch cheekpiece, sling swivels, an aluminum buttplate with trapdoor (empty). With one magazine, a leather sling, leather lens covers, a green scope storage container, an original British No.15 wooden storage chest with a piece of cardboard nailed to the outside marked "SERVICEABLE/EXAMINED BY REME/DATE 01-10-59".

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, 90% of the black finish remains with some high edge wear. The stock set is excellent with scattered minor scratches and dings. The scope is fine with considerable wear, some surface oxidation and flakes inside the clear optics. The scope case is fine with some wear. The rifle crate is very good with some wear and a long hairline crack on the inside of the lid. The leather items are very good with some wear.
