Description:

The Beretta SO9 shotgun represents a melding of the worlds most popular gauges (12,20,28 and .410) with the worlds most sought after engraving, brought together in the foremost example of the Beretta Premium Grade. This is a true sidelock shotgun and each action and receiver is specific and proportioned to each gauge matching the gauges mechanical and ballistic requirements resulting in a perfectly balanced and superior functioning. The SO9 has a unique advanced locking system with a double longitudinal bolt that engages internal Monobloc lugs in the receiver body. They are positioned above the upper barrel axis to minimize stress when firing. The fully functional locks are mounted on pins machined into the side plates eliminating the need for through pins, enhancing the aesthetic quality of the receiver. The barrels are cold hammer forged from blanks of Boehler Antinit steel assuring exceptional strength, light weight and corrosion resistance. Single bead sight on the solid matte rib, 3 inch chambers, choked improved cylinder/cylinder with ejectors. The upper right barrel is marked "BERETTA USA CORP ACKK, MD/MADE IN ITALY". The barrels are blue and the remaining parts are coin finished. The receiver is engraved with fine scroll designs with a round panel on the bottom of a wooded scene and a woodcock. The fine scroll engraving extends to the break lever, which also has a gold relief crown, the trigger guard and forearm hardware. The side locks are very nicely engraved with a wooded field scene on the left side and a rocky plains scene on the right side with game birds in each scene. The upper sides of the receiver are marked "P BERETTA", the underside is marked "MADE IN ITALY" and "P BERETTA" at the top of the panel scene, the upper tang is marked "SO9" and the serial number and the lower tang is marked "SO9". The engravers signature, "VENZI" is on the lower right side lock and "Inc Hassa 91" is next to the trigger. The matching serial number and various Italian proof marks appear on the bottom of the barrel. Single non-selective trigger and tang mounted safety and mounted with a select nicely figured oil finished European walnut forearm and straight grip stock with extra fine line hand checkering with a checkered bare butt. Length of pull is 14 5/8 inches. The shotgun is complete with a Beretta foam lined aluminum case.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrels retain 98% original blue finish with some mild thinning on the muzzles and some light handling marks. The remaining parts retain 98% original coin finish with some minor normal usage wear. The wood is also excellent with a few minor handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent.
