Description:

Manufactured from 1891 to 1911 with a total production of only 2,000. This revolver is in the scarce Mexican Model configuration identified by the spur trigger not integral as part of the frame, no half cock position and flat side hammer. Many of these revolvers were shipped to Mexico, Russia and South America. Interesting enough this revolver found its way to Britian. The top of the barrel rib is marked two line, two block address and patent dates flaking "MODEL OF 91" and with Maltese crosses on each end. Each cylinder flute is marked with a British "crown/GP" proof mark. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, nickel finish with casehardened hammer and fitted with smooth pearl grips with S&W medallions and a lanyard ring on the butt. The revolver is accompanied by a Smith & Wesson letter dated October 29, 1971 with a list of revolvers an individual wanted information on and this revolver is listed by serial number (#3 on the list), as a "Mexican" shipped to an Ivan Baramovite on October 31, 1902.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 97% original nickel finish with some minor blistering and flaking on the left side of the frame and some minor blistering on the opposite. The hammer retains almost all of the original, slightly muted case colors, still vibrate in flashes. The grips are also excellent with only a few light handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. An ultra rare extremely desirable Mexican Model.
