Manufactured circa 1868-1881, this model is similar to the 2nd Issue except made with a fluted cylinder and birdshead butt. The revolver features a typical and attractive floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the sides of the barrel, cylinder flats, frame and back strap. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the one line address and patent dates and the serial number is marked on the butt. Blade front and notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with smooth pearl grips. Complete in an original wooden case with brass inset rectangle hand marked "MEAR" on the lid, red felt lining and three compartments.

Rating Definition:

Fine as period refinished showing 60% nickel finish flaking along the high edges. There is some scattered minor pitting. The grips are very good. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is very good. The case is very good with an old minor filled repair on the lid and some scattered minor scratches on the exterior. One latch does not properly secure. The lining is very good.
