Manufactured in 1891 this British proofed special order Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle is chambered for the desirable 50 express caliber. (No factory letter available at time of description, but is undoubtedly authentic). The left rear of the barrel is stamped with three British proofs along with 500EX (which is stamped upside down). An additional British proof stamped on the left side of the casehardened frame and on top of the breech bolt. The special order features include the button magazine and shotgun buttplate. The rifle has beaded front and three leaf express rear sights. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two line address ahead of the rear sight and "50 EX" at the breech. The upper tang is stamped "-MODEL 1886-" and the lower tang is marked with the serial number along with the two line patent dates marking. Fitted with walnut a forearm and straight grip stock with steel forend cap.
