Outstanding Desirable Marlin Model 1895 Lever Action 45-70 Rifle

Manufactured between 1895 and 1917 with a total production of only about 18,000. This rifle was manufactured circa 1905. These rifles were the answer to the Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle and although they never attained the same status as the Winchester rifles, some consider them to be a better and stronger than the Winchester rifles. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked "MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A./PATENTED.OCT. 11. 1887, APRIL 2. 1889, AUGUST 1. 1893" and the left side is marked "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL". The top of the receiver is marked in script "MARLIN SAFETY", the right rear barrel flat is marked with a "JM" in an oval and the upper tang is marked "MODEL/1895". It is equipped with a German silver blade front and adjustable sporting rear sights, standard full length magazine tube and mounted with a smooth forearm with a straight grip stock and crescent buttplate.

ConditionNear excellent. The barrel and magazine tube retain 95% original blue finish. The receiver, hammer and lever retain 90% plus original vivid case colors with a smooth brown patina on the rear portion of the lever. The wood is fine with an old wood fill repair on the upper left side of the stock, and some scattered minor dents and scratches. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
