Manufactured in 1892, this Model 1885 features a 30 inch #3 part octagon barrel with a wind gauge spirit level globe front sight, filler bock in the rear sight dovetail slot and a mid-range Vernier tang mounted peep sight. The barrel is fitted with a Lyman Super Targetspot 12x scope with elevation and windage ring and recoil spring. The top barrel flat is marked with the standard two line address ahead of the rear sight, (partially covered by the front scope base), and "38-55" at the breech. The bottom of the barrel in front of the forearm is marked "3" and the lower tang is marked with the patent date behind the trigger and the serial number behind the lever. The barrel is blue and the receiver and lever casehardened. Single set trigger and mounted with deluxe nicely figured checkered walnut Schnabel forearm with an ebony forend insert and pistol grip stock with a cheek piece and nickel plated Swiss buttplate.

Excellent. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish with some muzzle wear, a small area of minor oxidation on the right side of the muzzle and several moderate dings ahead of the scope. The receiver retains 90% original bright case colors and the lever retains 80% original case colors. The buttplate retains 97% original nickel finish with wear limited to the ends of the prongs.The wood is also excellent some scattered minor dents and dings, and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp. The action is excellent. A fine unaltered (except for scope & mounts) pre-Schuetzen Target Rifle in 38-55 Winchester caliber.
