The 5-shot, hinged barrel cluster is marked "ROBBINS & LAWRENCE", "WINDSOR, VT" and "PATENT 1849" on three barrel flutes with a scroll engraving at the breech. The frame is also scroll engraved. Barrel cluster and grips are numbered to the gun. The partitioned case is lined in red velvet. Included are the following accessories: two cavity German silver bullet mold, case key, screwdriver and Robbins & Lawrence powder flask. These pepperboxes were among the best selling and most popular type of their day.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pepperbox has a smooth brown-gray patina with the barrel cluster retaining strong traces of original brown finish in and around the protected areas and traces of original blue finish remain on the ring cocking trigger. The grips are fine with a couple small missing chips and a number of very minor handling marks. The action does not function. The engraving and markings are crisp. The case is fine with minor handling/storage marks. The faded lining has wear.
