This exceptional example was manufactured in 1929, the first full year of production. The right side of the matching numbered slide, numbered "24/66" under the firing pin retainer, is marked "COLT SUPER 38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt motif. The left side of the slide has Colt's address above the 1897-1913 patent dates in two lines. The slide is properly not altered for the Swartz safety. The upper left front of the trigger guard bow is marked with a "1" over the triangle "VP" and the right side is marked "99". Features include standard fixed low profile sights, blue barrel with polished chamber, checkered slide release and thumb safety, checkered milled trigger, checkered wide hammer and arched mainspring housing and checkered walnut grips without diamond patterns around the screw holes. This pistol is complete with an original two tone magazine marked ".38 AUTO/COLT" on the bottom of the base. Includes a post-war maroon box with the blue label and white lettering which reads "COLT AUTOMATIC/PISTOL/SUPER .38", with instruction sheet, and in the box is an old hand written note stating the pistol, serial number 2466, was shipped on June 12, 1929 to Leacock Sporting Goods Co. in St. Louis, MO.

Excellent with 98% plus original finish showing a few very minor scratches and very minor sharp edge wear mainly on the slide, with crisp original markings. The grips are excellent with one or two minor handling marks, with sharp checkering. The replacement box shows edge wear with some old glue repair/reinforcement to the corners and edges, with a small crushed area on the bottom, with an intact label on one end of the bottom.
