Unsigned Jacob Anstadt Attributed Kentucky Flintlock Rifle with Carved Buttstock

There are no visible markings on this rifle, however the consignor notes state that this rifle was made by Jacob Anstadt. Dovetailed brass blade front and fixed iron rear sights. Lightly engraved rear of the lock and hammer side, wooden ramrod secured by three brass pipes, brass trigger guard with grip extension and mounted with a full maple straight grip stock with a brass forend cap, decorative brass patch box and buttplate, cheek piece with a silver inlaid crescent moon on the cheek piece and carving behind the cheek piece. Jacob Anstadt was a gun maker in Berks Count, Pa. from 1815 to 1817.

ConditionGood as reconverted to flintlock configuration. The metal surfaces have a dark patina with some minor oxidation. The brass components have a dark aged patina. The ramrod end has a splinter absent. The action needs wok, the hammer does not engage. The stock is also good as restored with a small filled repair near the patch box and on the top right front of the wrist. Overall there are a few minor handling marks.
