Description:

This is a fantastic example of an original unaltered pre-war Walther PPK pistol in the very desirable .22 LR caliber. This scarce caliber was manufactured through the Walther production cycle on a very limited basis for both commercial and military contracts. This is a late commercial production model that still retains the "Crown/N" proofmark on the barrel chamber, muzzle, and right side of the slide directly behind the ejection port, which falls right in line with the noted serial number range of those listed on page 70 in the book on Walther PP, and PPK pistols by James Rankin Vol 1. This pistol has the correct matching slide with the standard Walther banner followed by the two line legend including the caliber followed by "Mod. PPK". It has a 60 degree safety and fixed sights. The right front side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a small property number "578". These were often a designation for a shooting club inventory. It has the original brown plastic checkered wrap around grips with the correct Walther factory magazine, blue finished with the brown finger extension on the bottom. Complete with the original matching Walther "woodgrain" factory box. The Walther banner, picture of the pistol and the "PPK" nomenclature are embossed on top of the lid and the right end has the original Walther factory label that has the matching serial number of "238502K" and "Cal. 22" affixed to the side. Inside the box is the original pre-war commercial Walther color instruction/owners manual, the original spare blue flat based magazine; the original Walther small tin cleaning kit which contains a small patch of cotton cleaning material, small bottle of oil and a cleaning brush.

Rating Definition:

Near new with only slight handling/storage marks. The breech face on the slide shows all of the original blue finish which would seem to indicate that the pistol may have only been factory test fired. The box is very good with each corner of the lid showing some separation and still retaining the original metal staples as well as some minor wear and flaking. There is some separation on the bottom of the box and the partition wall is loose. The markings are clear and the labels intact. The accessories are all excellent. A fantastic example of a like new pre-war Walther PPK pistol in the very desirable .22 LR caliber. This example would be impossible to upgrade on. Walther PPKs are rarer than PP version in 22LR and a complete serialized boxed PPK makes this an extraordinarily rare ensemble.
