Excellent Early 1914 Canadian Purchase Colt Government Model Semi-Automatic Pistol with Fisher Quebec Marked Holster

This is an excellent example of early production Colt Government Model pistol that was manufactured and shipped to Canada in 1914. Consignor notes that this pistol was early Canadian Government purchase of 120 pistols were shipped to the "Dept of Militia and Defense". The slide is a Type 1 version with the left side of the having the standard two-line, two-block Colt patent/address markings with the Colt Rampant at the rear of the behind the serrations. The right side is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBER .45". The right side of the frame is marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the serial number "C 9216". The barrel is a correct early blue Colt version that is marked with a small partial "P" proof on top of the front edge of the chamber area. The pistol still retains the various early WWI Colt features such as the checkered slide stop, the early pattern checkered thin thumb safety, the wide spur checkered hammer and the short horn grip safety. The grip panels are the correct WWI era checkered walnut with the large diamond around the screws. It is complete with a single unmarked two-tone Colt magazine with the lanyard loop on the base and an original Canadian purchase commercial leather holster. The holster is marked on the back: "S. FISHER & SONS QUEBEC", with the belt loop ink stamped 303/1120.

ConditionExcellent with 95% of the original Colt high polish blue finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear with minor thinning on the mainspring housing with some minor light dings/scratches behind the slide stop lever. Mechanically excellent. The holster is fine with a nice medium brown color overall and tight stitching, showing minor discoloration on the lower toe area, and light handling marks and scratches on the leather surface overall. An excellent example of a very early Canadian purchase Colt Commercial Model 1911 pistol.
