World War I Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army Contract Semi-Automatic Pistol

Manufactured 1918. This pistol was one of 4,400 shipped to the Springfield Armory on April 10, 1918. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address, with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S.ARMY" is marked on the right side of the slide. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the left side is marked with the circled "JMG" inspection mark of Major John M. Gibert above the magazine release. The top of the chamber is stamped with the separated "H" and "P" proofs with a single "H" on the back of the slide at the top of the hammer slot. Fixed sights, smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and hammer spur, lanyard ring on the heel, unmarked blue magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws, with reproduction shipping box and original steel cleaning rod still in the wrapper.

ConditionVery fine with 85% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spots wear with general light thinning on the front grip strap. The grips are also very fine with nice distinct checkering on both sides with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
