This is an example of a Canadian Ross Model 1905 with U.S. markings. Ross rifles were purchased by the U.S. Army for training purposes shortly after the United States entered WWI in 1917. The left side of the receiver is marked "ROSS RIFLE CO. QUEBEC CANADA. 1905./PATENTED". The U.S. Army ordnance bomb is stamped behind the trigger guard along with the numbers "1589" and "27". The right side of the butt stock is stamped with numerous issue and inspection markings. The front sight is a hooded blade sight and the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Bayonet lug, casehardened bolt and mounted with a smooth full one-piece walnut stock and matching hand guard, and steel buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a mottled brown patina. The bolt retains 80% original case colors. The stock is fine with a number of minor pressure dents and scratches. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
