As confirmed by the copy of a letter from Eugene F. Williams, Jr., this shotgun was once the personal property of the late John M. Olin. The two 20 gauge barrel sets are numbered to the gun, have ejectors, 3 inch chambers and dual bead sights on a vent rib. The 26 inch barrels have chokes marked skeet and skeet and the 28 inch barrels have chokes marked modified and full. Both barrel sets come with a checkered forearm numbered to the gun and marked "1" and "2" respectively. Single trigger and tang safety/selector. The receiver, break lever, trigger guard, forearm knuckle and forearm release have floral scroll designs and are coin finished. The checkered pistol grip stock has a serrated plastic buttplate and an "JMO" initial oval for John M. Olin. Length of pull is 14 inches. Factory two barrel sets of the Model 23 XTR shotgun are rarely encountered.
