Description:

This is an excellent example of a very scarce/rare WWII Owens MK I submachine gun. This was the only submachine gun used by the Australian armed forces that was designed and manufactured totally in Australia. It was originally designed in 1939 and was manufactured from 1940-1945 and was used all the way up until approximately 1960. It has some very unusual features; the magazine is mounted on top of the receiver, with the ejection port being on the underside of the receiver with off-set sights with the cocking handle positioned towards the right rear side. However it proved to be exceptionally reliable and was a favorite with the Australian Army which lead to its long service use. The right side of the receiver is marked "OWEN 9MM.MKI 42/LYSAGRT.P.K./AUSTRALIA/PAT. PENDING/15165". It is complete with one original stick magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% of the green arsenal painted finish overall. The black plastic pistol grips are good with handling marks and minor nicks on the upper sides of the front grip with some minor pitting on the front sling swivel.
