Scarce Colt Model 1878 Damascus Barrel Two Set Hammer Shotgun

Manufactured from 1878-89 with this example have two Damascus barrel sets numbered to the gun. The 30 inch barrels feature a single bead front sight, 2 1/2 inch chambers, extractor and improved modified/improved modified chokes with a matching numbered forearm. The matching serialized 28 inch barrels feature a single bead front sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers, extractor and improved cylinder/improved cylinder chokes with a matching numbered forearm. The rib address on each barrel set is stamped in a different font. The lock plates are marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO." Checkered round knob pistol grip stock with factory hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull is 14 inches.

ConditionGood. The 30 inch barrels retain some traces of the Damascus with a smooth crisp dark patina on the balance. The 28 inch barrels retain 70% of the Damascus pattern with a smooth brown-gray patina with some deep pitting towards the muzzles. Both forearms are very good with a couple gouges and some minor handling marks. The action has a smooth dark patina overall. The buttstock is good as cracked near the triggers with some minor handling marks and some wear in the checkering.
