Description:

Manufactured in 1895 by Winchester for the U.S. Navy this rifle is chambered in the 6mm Lee or .236 caliber. This example is in a musket configuration with a full semi-pistol grip stock featuring a hand guard and a front barrel band with a bayonet lug. It has a hooded front sight and an adjustable rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards. The top of the chamber is stamped "-U.S.N.-/[anchor]/No 4073/-N.C.T.-". The left receiver wall is stamped with the two line Winchester address/patent dates marking. There is a stacking swivel mounted on the front barrel band, sling swivel on the rear barrel band and a swivel base on the buttstock. The iron buttplate has a compartment with an original string and brush pull through bore cleaner.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 90% plus original finish showing some scattered light spotting (a little heavier on the trigger guard). The stock is fine with a few minor shallow gouges and handling marks. The stacking swivel is damaged. The markings remain crisp and clear. Magazine components need adjustment, otherwise the action is excellent. These do not turn up in this fine of condition very often. One may be surprised how long it will take to find another like this!
