Attractive World War I Imperial German Army 1918 Dated DWM Artillery Luger with Holster

This is an example of a late production WWI Imperial German Army Model 1914 Artillery Luger that was manufactured by the DWM factory in 1918. These were a standard WWI issue Luger, with the 1918 dated chamber area with the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. These Lugers have the distinctive 8 inch barrel with the large tangent rear sight graduated from 1-8 (100-800 meters) with the standard front sight. The Luger has three crown over script letter proofs and the Imperial Eagle firing proof on the right side of the barrel extension with the same firing proof on the right side of the barrel. It is numbered in the military fashion with the full serial number on the frame, barrel and barrel extension with the last two digits of the serial number on the on the various small parts. It has the standard "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" marked upper safety are and extractor and is fitted with correct grips. It has a WWI nickel plated magazine with the wooden base that is stamped "5138/a/+". It is complete with a WWI era brown leather holster that is marked on the back side of the flap "MEFERUNGSGENOSSENSCHAFE/SATTLER/NURNBERG/1918", with the back side stamped with a "Crown/III".

ConditionVery fine with 97% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear, with blue loss on the side plate hump and left side of the muzzle area. The various small parts retain 95% of their professionally refurbished straw colors. The grips are excellent with nice original checkering on both sides with light wear across the checkering on the left side with some minor handing marks overall. The holster is also excellent with nice smooth medium brown leather with tight stitching and clear markings overall.
