The "480" code P38 pistols were manufactured in late 1940 and represented the first true military contract pistol with 7,250 made. The "480" code is stamped on the left side of the slide and trigger guard. "Eagle/359" proofs are present and visible numbers match with the magazine numbered to another gun (2231). The pistol is fitted with ribbed grips and the magazine is stamped "P.38" above the aforementioned serial number on the left side

Very fine as partially refinished (slide and barrel). The barrel and slide retain 97% of the blue finish with some minor high edge wear. The frame retains 75% original blue finish with the front grip strap thinning to a gray. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks. Slide does not lock when pulled back.
