This is an all original, standard WWII Japanese Type 97 sniper rifle, complete with the 2.5X sniper scope. This rifle was produced at the Chigusa factory under Nagoya Arsenal. The top of the receiver is marked with the intact Royal Chrysanthemum over the Japanese Kana markings for "Type 97". The rear sight is the later style without the anti-aircraft wings and the rear barrel band is equipped with the monopod block, but no monopod is attached and it has the earlier style front barrel band. The buttstock is the two-piece type without drain holes, short hand guard and cupped sheet metal buttplate. The top rear section of the 2.5 power scope is marked with a star with "EK" inside/No.24792, with rifle serial number 13324 stamped on the side of the scope mount.

Fine with 90% of the original blue finish remaining overall with many of the exposed metal parts showing numerous spots of light surface rust overall. The stock and hand guard are both very fine plus with a nice matching color overall mixed with minor handling marks and light pressure dents in some area. The scope has 90% of the black paint type finish with minor areas that have chipped off mixed with some light spots of minor rust just starting to form. The optics are a little cloudy with minor specs inside. The rifle has a matching bolt assembly.
