Manufactured in 1893, this is a Third Model 1873 rifle with the integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrated edges. The rifle features a full length magazine, blade front sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The barrel has the two line address/King's improvement patent date marking ahead of the rear sight and "44 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper receiver tang is stamped "MODEL 1873" and the brass cartridge elevator is marked "44 CAL." Nicely figured burl walnut smooth forearm and straight grip stock with forend cap and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).
