Manufactured 1898. Full length magazine tube, brass blade front sight and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The top of the barrel has the two line address marking and "38-55". The upper tang is fitted with a short range peep sight. Nicely figured straight grain walnut forearm with a steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
Fine. The rifle retains 30% plus thin original blue finish with a smooth brown and plum patina on the balance. The casehardened parts have a smooth mottled gray patina. The reoiled wood is very good as refinished showing some minor handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
