The barrel has the two line address/patent date marking. Caliber marking on the barrel and brass cartridge elevator (traces). The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873". The included copy of a Winchester Gun Museum letter confirms the caliber, barrel length and plain trigger and it was shipped on October 18, 1889.
Good. The rifle retains very scattered traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a mixture of smooth brown patina and mottled brown patina. A few areas of light pitting are present. The refinished wood is also good with some chipping at the stock toe and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
