Description:

This is the first Remington handgun chambered for metallic cartridge with an estimated 1,000 Zig-Zag derringers manufactured from 1861 to 1862. The pistol is chambered for 22 caliber and has a six shot revolving barrel cluster. The barrels are cut with zigzag grooves which are part of the revolving mechanism, hence the name "Zig Zag". Each barrel has an inverted "V" rib running the length of the flute with a brass bead sight. The pistol is breech loaded through a hole in the back of the recoil shield. The ring trigger is moved forward and rearward turning the barrels and cocking the internal hammer. The left side of the frame has the three line patent markings and the right side of the frame has the three line address. Fitted with smooth grips.

Rating Definition:

Good. The pistol has a smooth gray patina with some minor pitting. An area of chipping is present on the ring trigger. The grips are fine with a couple small surface chips missing and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
