Scarce Desirable Remington "Dog Head" Cane Gun

Type: Shotgun
Gauge: 32 RF
Barrel: 25 inch round
Finish: blue
Grip: Gutta Percha
Stock:
Item Views: 1804

Class: Antique
Description:

One of less than 2000 produced between 1866 and 1888. Steel tip with a German silver post sight on a ring immediately behind it, a Gutta Percha veneer over the barrel and action, a firing button just below a silver collar, and a finely detailed dog head top. The rear sight pops up when the handle is retracted for firing.

Rating Definition:

Good, with a mixed gray patina on the exposed steel and some denting around the tip. A pewter collar has been period installed just above the break between the action and barrel in order to contain a crack, with a few other thin cracks and scuffs visible on the veneer and handle. Mechanically needs work.
