Description:

Measuring 15 1/4 inches overall, with a 10 inch blade showing a slightly wavy hamon and seated in a gold finished bronze habaki. The tsuba is fitted with gilt spaces and decorated with raised floral and insect patterns, the high areas left bright and the lower areas finished in black lacquer. The fuchi and kashira show similar decoration, with a black cord wrap over floral menuki. The tang is unsigned, with "185" and "c064" added to the right side; the significance these numbers in unknown. With a black lacquer finished saya with the kurigata decorated to match the tanto, a black silk cord sageo and a gilt handled kagatana, 5 1/8 inches long with a 2 5/8 inch blade.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The blade shows a small amount of spotting, with a tiny bend at the tip, one or two dings on the edges, mild handling marks and a solid temper line. The furniture is also very fine, with some mild handling marks. The saya shows a few scuffs and dings.
