Description:

This is a very fine example of an early Mauser Model 1914 pistol, commonly termed a "humpback" due to the raised hump on the top of the slide. This example is even rarer in that it is fitted with the matching "long" barrel configuration. It is estimated that less than 1000 pistols with this long barrel were actually manufactured. Both of these features; the humpback slide and long barrel were eventually eliminated n the standard Model 1914 pistols. The pistol has the three line Mauser address/patent markings on the left side of the slide with the Mauser Banner below that on the side plate. The rear of the frame and top of the slide are numbered "312" with serial number "12" on the side of the barrel lug. The milled panel on the right side is stamped "L.K.112". The top of the slide has a "Crown/ U" proof marked behind the rear sight. It is fitted with a set of one-piece, wraparound checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a unmarked black Walther PP leather holster and one replacement Mauser magazine that is stamped on the base plate with "1/225593" over the Mauser banner logo.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 80% of the blue finish still remaining on the pistol, with the front grip strap having browned out and oxidized with wear on the edges and high spots. The holster is in very fine condition with nice tight stitching and good black color. A scarce early Mauser semi-automatic pistol.
