A) U.S. Navy Colt Double Action Revolver with New Jersey Marking and Navy Holster

Description:

Manufactured in 1896. The left side of the frame has a circled Rampant Colt at the rear and "NJ" (New Jersey) below the cylinder. Assembly number "44" is on the cylinder latch, frame and crane. The rear cylinder face has a letter "V". The butt is marked "USN/[anchor]/38 DA/[trident]/No/7624/NCT" over the two line serial number. Checkered "COLT" embossed grips which have the assembly number "44". The flap of the holster is embossed "USN" inside an oval.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good.

Description:

Manufactured in 1895. The butt is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1894/No/60/779". The "R.A.C." inspection mark is on the frame, cylinder face and bottom of right grip panel (faint). The left side of the frame is marked "N.J" (possibly New Jersey militia) and "L.F.?" below the inspection mark. Serial number is marked on the toe of the back strap and matching assembly number "779" is marked on the crane and frame.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver retains 40% original thin blue finish with gray patina on the grip straps, scattered areas of smooth brown and gray patina, and a few minor scratches and dings. Much of the original bright niter blue remains on the hammer and trigger. The front sight has been filed down at the top. The grips are good with a moderate chip on the right toe, some wear and minor chips on the lower edges, a minor crack on the right panel and a few minor dents. The action is fine.
