Manufactured in 1959. Standard Winchester markings on the .338 Winchester Magnum chambered barrel and receiver including the factory oval proof and "--SUPER GRADE--" on the hinged floor plate. Hooded ramp front sight, adjustable folding leaf rear sight and receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting. Late safety, straight receiver tang and jeweled bolt, follower and extractor with the bolt numbered to gun. Mounted on a select walnut pistol grip stock with "Latter" period Super Grade type checkering on forearm and grip area, raised cheekpiece, plastic forend tip, quick release sling swivels, metal grip cap and solid leather faced factory recoil pad with raised lettering. The original Winchester box is numbered to the gun and marked Special Order Super Grade with instructions. Very few of these were made. Where else would you find a .338 Winchester Special Order in the factory box?

As new in box, showing 99% plus original rust blue finish with light traces of collector type handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The box is excellent, showing some minor handling and storage wear with label reattached to box with tape. This is an exceptional pre-64 Winchester Model 70 in .338 Winchester Magnum.
