Manufactured circa 1934 and subsequently refurbished to factory specification. The frame, side locks, break lever, forearm hardware and trigger guard are engraved with fine English scroll and rosettes. Each lock is marked "J. PURDEY & SONS" and the underside of the frame is marked "J PURDEY & SONS/LONDON/ENGLAND". The serial number is gold inlaid on the lower tang, with the matching number on the bottom of each barrel and on the forearm hardware, as well as "CHOKE" on each barrel. The barrel flats are marked with various British proof marks, nitro proofed, marked "3", "1 1/2", "12" and "12/C" in a triangle. The water table is marked with two "crown/V" proof marks. Single brass bead sight on the smooth solid rib marked "J. PURDEY & SONS AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON, ENGLAND. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID-PRESSED STEEL". There is a small wedge of fine floral scroll engraving on the breech end of the rib. Casehardened receiver and locks, with blue remaining parts, single trigger, niter blue cocking indicators, tang mounted automatic safety with gold "SAFE" and mounted with an extra fancy multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm and straight grip stock with teardrop flats, a checkered bare butt, with casehardened heel and toe plate, and "JCG" inscribed gold initial oval. 3 inch chambers with ejectors. Bores measure .733 (right) and .737 (left), the wall thickness is .030 (right) and .029 (left), the bore constriction is .004 (right) (Skt) and .020 (left) (Mod). Length of pull is 13 7/8 inches, drop at the comb is 1 1/2 inches, drop at the heel is 2 1/8 inches, and cast off is 3/8 inch.

Very fine as professionally refurbished with 98% blue finish on the barrels showing some thinning and wear on the muzzle ends and some thinning on the breech end sides. The trigger guard and break lever retain 99% blue finish. The locks retain 99% bright case colors and the receiver retains 95% bright case colors with some smooth gray on the high spots. There are a few minor dings and scuffs on the stock, otherwise light handling/storage marks and very crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
