Desirable Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle, in 45-70 Caliber with Casehardened Receiver

Manufactured in 1894. German silver dovetailed blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the two-line address and "45-70" markings on top of the barrel and "-Model 1886-" on the upper tang of the casehardened receiver. Smooth straight grip stock, with a metal forearm tip and smooth buttplate.

ConditionFine. The barrel and magazine retain 50% of the original blue, with a mixed brown patina and patches of heavy pitting ahead of the forearm, a small dent on the front sight and a small screw absent from the rear sight leaf. Bright and vivid case colors are present on the frame, over 60%, with a mixed brown and gray on the remainder, a darkened patina on the lever, and mild brown spotting. The stock is also fine, with "spotty" varnish loss and scattered storage dings. Mechanically excellent. This is a fresh example which appears to have come right out of an attic!
