Used by market hunters to take large numbers of waterfowl, the Punt Gun derives it's name from the small boats to which it was mounted. The hunter would maneuver his punt slowly into optimum position, and aim to kill as many birds in one shot as possible. Single bead sight, with no legible makers markings on the barrel or back-action lock. Two bands secure the barrel to the stock, the rear one being 3 1/2 inches wide and doubling as a mounting bracket. Smooth, straight wrist stock, with a lowered comb and a naked butt.
