This is a nice example of an A. H. Fox double barrel B Grade shotgun manufactured circa 1912. These early shotguns are exceptionally well made and feature factory engraving, select walnut stock and forend with blue barrels with casehardened actions. These were made from all steel parts that were hand fitted with exacting tolerances. There is a one inch wedge of floral scroll engraving at the breech end of the barrels and the action features floral scroll engraving with "ANSLEY H FOX" in a banner on each side and two quail in a field scene on the bottom. The engraving extends to the break lever. The trigger guard has simple line designs and an oval in the center. The top breech end of the right barrel is marked "CHROMOX FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL" and "MADE BY A.H. FOX GUN Co. PHILA. PA. U.S.A." on the left. The lower tang, water table, barrel flat and inside forearm hardware are marked with the matching serial number. There is a single brass bead sight on the matte concave solid rib. 2 1/2 inch chambers with extractor. Double triggers, tang mounted automatic safety and mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with checkered flats and serrated horn buttplate. Length of pull is 14 1/8 inches. Bores measure .615 (right) and .616 (left), the wall thickness is .028 (right) and .025 (left), the bore constriction is .032 (right) (Full) and .032 (left) (Full). Drop at the comb is 1 9/16 inches, drop at the heel is 2 7/8 inches.
