This is an excellent example of a Westley Richards single shot Express Rifle. The action, upper tang and lever are engraved with floral scroll designs. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO., LONDON" and ".458/WINCHESTER MAGNUM" behind the rear sight, with the 458 gold inlaid and there is a gold inlaid "1" at the breech. The left rear of the barrel is marked with a "crown/BNP" proof, "458 MAGNUM 2.50"/19.5 TONS PER (square)", cross sceptor proof and the serial number. Each side of the action is marked "WESTLEY/RICHARDS". Hooded blade front sight with ivory bead and three leaf (two folding, one fixed) rear sight. There is a sling eye mounted on the underside of the barrel. Mounted with a nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap, solid recoil pad and sling swivel eye. This rifle is consecutively serial numbered to the next lot.
