Desirable Marlin Single Shot Top Break Target Pistol

Manufacturer: Marlin Firearms Co
Model: Top Break
Type: Pistol
Gauge: 22
Barrel: 10 inch round
Finish: blue
Grip: walnut
Stock:
Item Views: 1967
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 248
Class: Curio & Relic Handgun
Description:

This pistol is an example of an assembled Hopkins and Allen target pistol by The Marlin Firearms Corporation and is identical to the Hopkins and Allen target pistol that was introduced in 1913. Marlin began to assemble these pistols in 1922. Like the Hopkins & Allen pistol, it has a 10 inch barrel, wooden grips and single action. The top break mechanism and ejector system were identical to those of the Hopkins and Allen Safety Police revolver. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger, adjustable rear sight, blade front sight and brass Hopkins and Allen monogram inserts fitted into the top of each grip. The top of the barrel is marked "The Marlin Firearms Corp. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.". Matching serial number on the front grip strap, barrel underside and bottom of the monoblock. This serial number is probably a Hopkins and Allen number that was already stamped onto the parts when Marlin assembled the pistol. This is certainly a rare piece and most desirable item for the Marlin pistol collector.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The pistol retains 90% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. A few areas of light pitting are presents. The grips are excellent with a few minor handling marks and retaining most of the finish. Mechanically excellent.
