Manufactured in 1987. This is an interesting example of a Ruger Speed-Six revolver with the frame factory marked "Police Service-Six." The frame has the rounded butt of a Speed-Six revolver, but is marked "RUGER POLICE SERVICE-SIX" on the right side. The Police Service-Six revolver was built on a square butt frame, not with a rounded butt as found on this revolver. Fitted with checkered grips featuring Ruger medallions with the backs marked "RUGER ROUND BUTT." The 2 3/4 inch barrel is also not a standard barrel length found on Police Service-Six stainless steel revolvers. Stainless steel Police Service-Sixes were fitted with 4 inch barrels only. The barrel has the address and warning markings on the left side and the caliber marking on the right side. The Ruger box has an end label for a Speed-Six revolver with the barrel length listed as 2 inches. The shipping box is numbered to the gun with the barrel length listed as 2 3/4 inches and the revolver listed as a Speed Six. Provenance: Gil Hebard Collection.
