Description:

Manufactured in 1896. The no. 3 barrel has the two line address ahead of the rear sight slot and "32-40" at the breech. Lyman front sight, filler block in the rear dovetail slot and tang peep sight. Smooth forearm with ebony insert and smooth straight grip stock with crescent buttplate. The left side of the forearm is stamped "GEORGE W. COOK". A simple internet search discovered a George Washington Cook (November 10, 1851 - December 18, 1916) who was a U.S. Representative from Colorado. More research should be done on the aforementioned individual to determine if he was the original owner of this rifle.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with a smooth crisp brown patina on the balance. The receiver retains hints of the original case colors. The wood is also very good with some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
